How to compare gift card quotes without confusing them with FX

A quote comparison is useful only when the inputs describe the same card and the output measures what you would actually receive.

1. Match the card before comparing the money

Check that both offers refer to the same brand, country or currency, card format and face value. A quote for a physical US card is not automatically comparable with one for a digital UK card, even when the brand name is identical.

2. Convert each offer to net payout

Net payout is quoted payout minus disclosed fees. The worksheet treats a fee as a fixed naira amount because that is the simplest figure to verify. If a platform uses a percentage fee, calculate its naira value before entering it.

3. Normalize by face value

Dividing the net payout by the face value produces an effective naira-per-unit rate. This lets you compare two offers that present their totals differently. It does not make the result an official foreign-exchange rate.

4. Treat the result as a comparison, not a promise

Final payout can still depend on card validity, region, format, denomination, proof of purchase and review outcome. Use the worksheet to identify the clearer offer, then confirm the exact transaction terms. For a current platform estimate, check CardFlow’s gift card rate table.
